Brown and Pletts architects approached Slider Studio to assist with the design exploration of a folded metal roof design concept for Deptford Station. We designed and built a parametric macro to run in their standard cad package, offering the designer geometric control of a number of parameters ranging from overall roof layout to cantilever, pitch and valley gutter fall. With such a design tool, the generation of different roof configurations was achievable within a few hours, instead of days, allowing more designs to be evaluated.
