Tattenhoe

We prepared a design bid for Crest Nicholson for acquiring an English Partnerships site at Tattenhoe Park, Milton Keynes. The brief asked for 30% of the new homes to meet Flexible Extendable Housing criteria, code 4 of Code for Sustainable Homes, all EP space standards and Lifetime Homes criteria. The urban design code required a pepper potted mix of house types and tenures, and for homes on the High Street to afford sufficiently high ground floors to allow future conversion to office or shops at a future date. Our team prepared the final urban design layout and offered 12 different house types and 3 apartment blocks which could meet the demanding brief. We designed built -in and fully coordinated roof extensions arguing these were an important strategy for meeting the FEH standards for increasing a house floor area without increasing the footprint and over-developing the back gardens which are inevitably small at higher densities.
